Let's rebuild the Key Bridge and keep

Baltimore's economy growing

Maryland officials estimate that rebuilding the bridge destroyed by a container ship in March will take four years and cost between $1.7 billion and $1.9 billion. President Biden said he intends to have the federal government cover the full cost of rebuilding.

This project will create thousands of jobs for Maryland's skilled construction workforce.

Let's keep building Maryland's middle-class

To ensure this important public works project is built safely and efficiently, a Project Labor Agreement (PLA) should be required as part of the contract bidding process. For over 80 years, PLAs have proven to be an effective way to manage complex construction projects.

Common PLA provisions include requirements to:
  • Hire local workers
  • Use registered apprentices
  • Establish pre-apprenticeship career pipelines
  • Insist on diversity
  • Employ veterans

Let's make it happen

As we embark upon building a modern and more resilient bridge for Baltimore, a PLA will help employ thousands of local tradespeople and pay wages that sustain families and lift the local economy.

President Biden has called for one. Now Maryland's working families need Governor Moore to step up and require the new bridge be built under a Project Labor Agreement. Let's make it happen.
